White patterned melamine plates have been recalled in Carrefour hypermarkets. The recall follows the request of the Federal Agency for Food Chain Safety (AFSCA).

The agency detected, during checks, that toxic substances are able to be secreted into food, when using this item.

The AFSCA stated on Thursday, “It turns out that the legal limits for the transfer of melamine have been proven to be exceeded.” Toxic substances can, in the long term, pose a risk to consumer health.

The company AM/63 has therefore decided in agreement with the AFSCA to withdraw this product, sold in Carrefour hypermarkets, from sale. It is further highlighting the withdrawal to consumers, who will be able to receive a refund.

The plates have the batch number 485922, and have been being sold since April 2017.

Customers can obtain further information by calling the company AM/63, based in the Netherlands, on +31 20-4940860 every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
