The federal police are launching, in partnership with the various police zones, the FPS Interior and local authorities, a major nationwide survey around citizens’ perceptions of national security. About 500,000 people, aged 15 and over, will receive a letter in the coming days urging them to both give a score to their particular district, and assess the action being taken by the police in this sphere.
Ultimately the survey aims to ensure that the country’s national security policy is able to meet citizen concerns in the best possible way. The federal police are therefore hoping for the maximum participation in the questionnaire. On Monday, they indicated in a communiqué, “...the more responses we receive, the more reliable the information provided by the survey will be, and will enable us to learn the necessary lessons.”
The recipients of the letter have been selected at random. The questionnaire can be completed either as a paper or online exercise. The police state, “The anonymity of the responses is guaranteed.” The results of this particular Security Monitor survey are expected for the beginning of 2019. The previous edition of the questionnaire dates back to 2008.
