The Royal Meteorological Institute has issued a so called yellow alert for the risk of thunderstorms, rain and strong winds Thursday afternoon and evening in Belgium. By midnight stormy showers could be quite strong. The thunderstorms are developing in northern France and Belgium. Pushed by a wind from the south-east, the storms make their way from the Ardennes towards the Belgian coast.
The yellow alert level predicts a high risk for a local storm and which is not without danger. The institute warns that strong showers, hailstorms, lightning and strong wind gusts can cause problems.
The meteorological institute warns that these storm could become especially strong in the afternoon and evening.
The alert is from 14h until midnight on Thursday night. The whole country is affected except the province of Luxembourg.
