Colruyt to equip 250 store parking lots to fight against littering

The Colruyt chain of supermarkets is going to equip 220 store parking lots, and several others among the group’s central sites, with at least one ashtray column and one plastic and residual waste sorting spot. The initiative represents an investment of 700,000 euros in bins and ashtrays.

The principle has been tested for several months in 11 of the group’s parking lots. The system worked well, and the quantity of litter on the parking lots has decreased by 40%. The distributor decided then to apply the principle widely.

This action is organized as part of the group’s five-year plan, “Together for less littering?” A Colruyt campaign will be launched, using posters in the stores, at bus stops close to the chain’s branches, and stickers.
