Tilff: Man dies trying to save dog from drowning

A man died on Sunday evening while trying to save his dog from drowning in Tilff, firefighters in Liège reported. The animal was saved, but the emergency services were unable to revive his owner.

The man and his wife had been walking their dog along Neef Avenue in Tilff when the animal suddenly jumped into the Ourthe River. His owner immediately jumped in to save him. The dog was able to get back on land, but the man remained in the water. Passers-by jumped in to try to save him and ambulance staff who were on the scene tried to reanimate him. However, the man died before his wife’s eyes.
