The Walloon Minister for Countryside, René Collin, confirmed on Friday in a communiqué the presence of a wolf in Les Fagnes (the Belgian High Fens). The “Wolf Network”, coordinated by the Wallonia Public Service and set up in May 2017, noted a negative produced, at the end of last month in Les Fagnes by a “camera trap”.
The communiqué stated that a specialist from the French National Office for Hunting and Wild Fauna has certified that it was indeed “an animal from the wolf species based upon a number of elements. These were the facial features, the contrasting dorso-ventral line, the fairly short tail and the identifiable ‘striding’ gait.”
