Flanders has issued an orange alert following days of excessive heat, expected to continue until Friday. The administrators of the country’s northern provinces will now have to take measures to limit water consumption, including a general ban on watering, the Flemish Environmental Agency told VTM NIEUWS on Tuesday.
People and public administrations are thus banned from using running, underground or rain water to sprinkle their lawns or wash their cars.
The alert from the Flemish Environmental Agency has been issued to governors, who will have to apply the measures in their respective provinces.
