The Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration, Theo Francken (New Flemish Alliance) anticipates establishing a new system to place undocumented migrants in closed reception centres. De Tijd is reporting on Wednesday that he has already presented the measure to the Prime Minister.

The objective is to only place migrants in transit in the closed reception centres in Steenokkerzeel and Bruges, where 160 places are anticipated to be available for undocumented migrants, who are intercepted in motorway car park areas. The figure for the number of places available has already been confirmed.

De Tijd reports that implementing a processing system should enable 40 places per day to become available for new individuals. What exactly the new system anticipates is still unclear.

The Flemish daily states that Mr Francken will set out this new system to the Cabinet on Friday.
