Unicef Belgium launched an appeal for donations on Sunday, to help with emergency operations in Indonesia. The country was rocked by a powerful earthquake on Friday and then a tidal wave hit the Isle of Celebes later that day.
“We are currently handing out emergency supplies from our stock, but Unicef will definitely need more over the next few days”, Unicef says.
The organisation is severely lacking healthcare supplies, vaccinations, drinking water, emergency shelters, food and protection for the children.
“Based on our experience of other emergency situations, we know that children suffer most with this type of disaster. This means preventing illness and providing food and shelter is a high priority”, says Unicef Belgium.
Donations can be transferred into their bank account (BE 31 0000 0000 5555) or via the internet site www.unicef.be.
