Ghost driver causes accident on E42 highway
Only the ghost driver was injured and taken to hospital. The lorry driver is in shock but unharmed.

A ghost driver set out on the E42 motorway in Fleurus on Monday evening. Having driven against the traffic flow for several hundred metres, he crashed into a truck, which ended its journey in the ditch. Only the driver at fault sustained injuries.

The emergency services indicate that the incident took place around 9.30 p.m. A ghost driver took a slip road on the E42 against the flow of traffic in Fleurus. An HGV driver, who was travelling in the Mons direction, attempted to avoid him but bumped into him, whilst swerving. Following this, the HGV sheared off the safety barriers, ending its journey in the ditch.

Alerted to the incident, the emergency services arrived on site, as well as the federal road safety police. Only the ghost driver was injured and taken to hospital. The lorry driver is in shock but unharmed. Following this accident, the traffic was reduced in volume. Travelling on the road will remain difficult during the period it takes for the heavy goods vehicle to be towed away.
