Friday’s "bridge holiday" will have little effect

The extra day off that many Belgians will take between Ascension Day on Thursday and the weekend is not expected to be disruptive since banks and post offices will be open on Friday and the only modifications planned are to public transport schedules. Compared to a normal day, the Belgian railway utility, SNCB, will only cancel a few trains on Friday, mainly during rush hours. The bus services in and around Brussels, STIB, and Wallonia, TEC, will apply their holiday schedules for the rest of the week.

Post offices will work as normal, and so will banks, even if a few agencies may remain closed, the sector’s federation, Febelfin, announced.

There is no across-the-board rule for municipal administrations. City and communal associations have asked citizens to consult the websites of their localities to find out what their town councils will be decide for Friday.
