OCAM does not see any link between the shootings in Strasbourg and Belgium
The shootings in Strasbourg have, once again, put Belgium on alert.

According to OCAM, which coordinates the analysis of terrorist threats in Belgium, there is no link between the shootings in Strasbourg and Belgium. The Minister of Justice, Koen Geens, was speaking on the broadcast De Ochtend on Radio 1, on Wednesday morning, when making the assertion. In other words, changing Belgium’s security level is not on the agenda for now.

The perpetrator was unknown to the Belgian security services. Geens stated that there was no sign of the man in Belgian databases. He further said that searches to find the perpetrator are still in progress on both sides of the French-Belgian border. The searches are happening, although it is not 100% certain that the man who carried out the shootings fled by car.

Lastly the minister gave assurances that there is, however, no indication at present that Belgium may be targeted in the same way.
