Antwerp Airport registered 10% increase in passenger traffic in 2018

Antwerp Airport received 298,403 passengers in 2018, a 10% increase on the preceding year, the airport’s management disclosed on Friday. Commercial flights represented only 12.6% of all flights to and from the airport but accounted for 88% of the passengers.

Antwerp Airport was the subject of many political discussions last year. The Socialist Party Otherwise (sp.a) and the Green party wanted it closed, whereas the agreement with the majority in the municipal government states that it needs to focus on business flights.

Business and training flights currently represent 66% of flights there, while commercial flights account for 12.6% of the total.
