Ikea to create around 100 new positions during restructuring

The management of the Belgian subsidiary of Ikea, the kit furniture giant, indicated during an extraordinary works committee meeting, on Monday, that around 100 new positions will be created, during the Belgian restructuring. The information was revealed by a trade union source. The management of Ikea’s Belgian subsidiary might have to provide further information about the move, during a staff meeting on Tuesday.

The restructuring had been announced in November and could lead, in Belgium, to the axing of 100 to 120 jobs at the Belgian head office, and in HR services within the shops. The Belgian restructuring falls within a broader global corporate reorganization, leading to the loss of some 7,500 jobs worldwide. However, it will go hand in hand with investments in shops, both existing and future, in logistics centres and in e-commerce development.
