Ecolo launches video game to raise awareness of the planet’s future

Little more than two months ahead of the federal, regional and European elections, Ecolo has launched its own video game to raise awareness of the earth’s future. This is a first in Belgian politics, said the Green party.

The game ‘Planet Alert’ takes place in a world of graphics resembling the most famous arcade games. A character called Picolo, “uses weapons against the forces of evil which are polluting and choking the planet.” You can play it on your telephone or on a computer.

"Beyond the game itself, the planet -  yes the real one - where we live is calling for action on our part as well. This is because both forces of evil and pollution are equally harmful in reality,” said Ecolo. The political group is targeting in this regard “the polluters”, industrial food processing, agro-chemicals, “the extremists and the populists.”

A few weeks away from the elections on May 26th the Greens’ intention is thus, aside from that, to attract the public’s attention to some of their key priorities. Particular aspects are the food industry’s transition to less processed products, local products respecting the countryside and the environment. The fight against pesticides and other harmful products produced by the agro-chemical industry and even the development of sustainable energy alternatives are also top priorities.
