No fewer than 428 medicines are no longer available in Belgium, according to new figures.
The shortage mainly concerns blood thinners, according to Pharmacy Association figures requested by VTM NIEUWS.
Due to a lack of raw materials, the medications just cannot be made. Additionally, many medicines are also exported, meaning that not enough is left in Belgium.
At the end of 2018, the Pharmacy Association already sounded the alarm after 400 medicines were not available anymore. They have called for a European approach to solve the problem.
