Belgium's Eurovision hopeful takes to the stage in Tel Aviv

Eliot, the Belgian singer in the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, will participate in his second rehearsal today before the semi-finals next week. Originally from Mons, Eliot Vassamilet, 18 years old, will represent Belgium at the 64th Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv. His song “Wake Up” was written by Pierre Dumoulin. Eliot was discovered in season 7 of The Voice Belgique.

Rehearsals temporarily came to a halt yesterday because Expo Tel Aviv was closed for Israel's official Remembrance Day. Today Israel’s Independence Day is celebrated.

Netherlands are the favourites and predicted to win the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest, with Belgium predicted in 20th place.

In the past days, the first rehearsals have given artists the opportunity to perform in Tel Aviv for the first time, and to get used to their surroundings and adjust to the stage.

It is the first time that the delegations see the staging, lighting and choreography united with their performers and hear how the vocals sound in the in-ear monitors and through the actual sound channels that will be broadcast in the live shows.

Each delegation gets 40 minutes and 3 full run-throughs of their song to discuss changes and improvements with the production crew, adjust the sound volumes for the microphones and ear monitors and discuss changes to camera shots, angles and positioning.
