A 25-year-old undocumented immigrant was found seriously injured on the quai Jean-Baptiste Culot in Dinant at around 11pm on Saturday.
The Namur Prosecutor’s office says he was attacked with a knife and a hatchet.
Witnesses said several people attacked the victim, then fled in a car that was waiting near-by.
An investigation is underway, but analysis of the CCTV footage has not provided any leads. The attack is being handled as an attempted murder.
