The Museum of the Royal Institute of Natural Sciences of Belgium, IRSNB, registered 328.183 visitors last year, 317 more (+0.1%) than in 2017, the institute said on Wednesday in its latest report.

The number of visits was limited by the capacity of the museum’s exposition halls and the fact that there was no regular flow of visitors. “The current works should provide a response to this problem by improving the comfort of visitors, even if they are more numerous,” the report’s writers noted.

The museum has 16,000 m² of galleries, temporary exhibition halls, educational workshops and other public spaces. Its 38 million specimens are part of the national and universal heritage. They constitute the third largest collection in Europe, just after London and Paris, and one of the world’s 10 largest.
