A 38-year-old man stabbed during a brawl at a dance in Roquefort on the night of 10 to 11 August died on Wednesday evening from his wounds, relatives said.

The victim had been taken in a critical state to the UCL Dinant Godinne University Hospital, where he was placed in intensive care, where he remained in a comatose state, fighting for his life.

Thus far one suspect, a man from the Rochefort area, has been arrested in connection with the incident. He is scheduled to appear before the Namur Council Chamber on Friday.

The suspect was initially charged with grievous bodily harm resulting in a disability of over four months. However, with the death of the victim, that charge will be reviewed.
