A Bruges rental company has offered €3,000 in damages to a man whose possessions were mistakenly removed from the apartment in which he was living in August.

The clearance service of the rental company emptied the contents of the wrong apartment on Blankenbergse Steenweg in Bruges, throwing everything into a container, according to Mieke Verheyen, the inhabitant's grandmother.

By the time Verheyen realised that the rental company had made a mistake, many of her grandson's possessions had been put in a container, Verheyen explained. "His bed, furniture, television, microwave, medicine, electronics... they threw everything away," said Verheyen, reports HLN.

Initially, the rental company SVK (Sociaal Verhuur Katoor) tried to deny the mistake, said Verheheyen.

After a consultation, the company made a proposal. “A month after the incident, they want to give us 3,000 euros for the damage suffered. A shameful proposal. Okay, everyone can miss. But at least correct those errors correctly. My grandson has lost everything," said Verheyen.
