Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel and his British counterpart Boris Johnson will meet on Monday in New York, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly held there this week.
No public comments will be made by the two men on the last-minute meeting. Meanwhile, in Brussels, European and British Brexit negotiators are brainstorming on British documents concerning the "backstop": safeguard clause for the issue of the Irish border.
The meeting is currently scheduled at 10:45 AM (4:45 PM Belgium time). Johnson confirms that the Brexit will happen as planned on 31 October. Michel, meanwhile, assumes the Presidency of the European Council on 1 December.
