The body of a woman who went missing in 2009 was discovered and removed from the Albert canal on Thursday.
During a three-day canal clean up project, local police used a drone on Thursday when they reached Stokrooie near Hasselt.
A vehicle containing the body of a woman was discovered and removed from the water, reports Nieuwsblad.
According to the Limburg public prosecutor, the body belongs to a woman who has been missing since 2009.
After the removal of the vehicle from the canal, it was taken to a shed, where forensic experts carried out investigations, reports VRT.
There was no evidence of a crime.
After the identity of the body was established, the police visited and informed the family.
