Two underage girls, 12 and 13 years old, were arrested after a 13-year-old girl was beaten up and kicked while other pupils filmed after school in Antwerp.

On Thursday evening, the Antwerp police arrested two girls of 12 and 13, who were brought before the public prosecutor. The girls were not kept under arrest, but strict conditions were imposed on them, reports Het Nieuwsblad.

The Antwerp police consider the incident "severe." The 13-year-old victim was cornered after school by a group of pupils after she had had an argument with a few of them during the day, reports Het Laatste Nieuws.

On the videos going around on social media, the girl is shown being pushed into a corner and kicked and hit repeatedly by several pupils of the school. According to the girl’s mother, it left her with bruised ribs, a concussion, bruised vertebrae and a bruised knee, and she no longer dares to go to school, reports Het Nieuwsblad.

The girl's parents reported the incident to the police in Brasschaat on Monday. A day later, the investigation was handed over to the juvenile delinquency unit of the Antwerp police, which analysed all images.

After an extensive conversation with the public prosecutor, the two girls were subjected to strict conditions, including a restraining order against the victim.
