A German sports car driving at a speed of 250 kilometres per hour on the E40 motorway towards Liège was intercepted by the federal road police on Tuesday.
The police spotted the sports car during a speed check-in Hoegaarden. The check took place between 9:30 AM and 1:30 PM and the speed of 4,115 vehicles were reviewed.
A young man from Machelen was driving the sports car. He had rented it in Germany for a wedding and was driving back to return the car when he was spotted and brought off the motorway by the police.

The motorists driving licence has been withdrawn for 15 days and he will have to answer for his "dangerous driving behaviour," a statement by the federal police explained.
Overall, 97% of the 4,115 drivers checked were in line with the speed limit.
