The residents around the port of Ghent woke up to a worrying sight on Tuesday when they noticed that a yellow cloud had formed, and was floating North.
"The situation is under control, there is no danger for the environment", explained fire spokesman Alisa Coessens.
The yellow cloud originated from a chimney of a company located in the port area and was made up of nitrogen dioxide, Coessens told Nieuwsblad. "This is released during a combustion process in that company. It's harmless."
