Despite the De Lijn strike that was called for by the socialist union, the bus and tram traffic will (almost) not be disrupted on New Year's Eve in Flanders, according to the company.

Only in Antwerp and Ghent several lines will be cancelled.

"We expect there to be little or no disruption to our party buses tonight," said Inge Debruyne, a spokesperson for transport company De Lijn, confirming that the adapted schedule for New Year's Eve will continue as usual, reports VRT.

In most of Flanders, partygoers who are counting on getting home safely by bus or tram, should not experience any issues.

"On the Antwerp tram network, a few rides will disappear. In Ghent, travellers will have to take into account that there will not be any city lines from 8:00-9:00 PM to 23:15 PM tonight," she added. Travellers can consult the De Lijn app or website for realtime information.

"Just like yesterday, the impact is most noticeable in the central cities, with the exception of West Flanders and Limburg, where everything drives normally today," said Debruyne.

The socialist trade union ACOD has submitted a strike notification for the period from 30 December to 3 January.
