The Belgian Business Federation (FEB) is receiving a large number of messages from employers that want to help refugees. To respond in a structured way, the employer’s organisation has planned a conference between business owners and experts in asylum and immigration, the FEB director Pieter Timmermans said on Saturday. This confirmed information that appeared in Le Soir.
“Over the last few days, we had a lot of questions from our members, who want to know what they can do and how they can help”, said Mr Timmermans. But this help has to be rational. “Rather than loads of propositions that might not be doable, we want to discuss what is manageable, useful and legal”, said a FEB manager.
The federation is therefore holding a conference at the end of next week or the beginning of the week after, to talk about realistic solutions. “We want to give a clear signal that employers are not indifferent to the crisis, while offering realistic solutions”, said Pieter Timmermans.
