DP World is investing 270 million Euros at its Antwerp facilities between now and 2020, which will result in 300 new jobs, reveals the daily De Tijd on Friday. “Antwerp is easily accessible by boat, is more productive than Rotterdam, and offers many advantages for clients,” highlights the CEO of Rob Harrison.
The initial phase was approved with investments – 175 million and 100 jobs – in skip-loading in particular.
DP World Antwerp currently employs 850 people and handled two million containers in 2015, that is 200,000 more than the previous year. The firm’s short-term goal is to increase the numbers of containers they handle yearly to 2.7 million.
