SNCB threatens to leave trade unions without finance

SNCB management are refusing to make a new financing agreement with the trade unions if the latter continues to threaten five-day strike action during January. The current financing agreement runs until the end of the year, the Mediahuis newspaper group indicated on Friday. The railway worker trade unions have benefitted from around 10 million euros per year under this agreement. Without speeding up negotiations, the various trade union organisations could easily find themselves with no money in January. The totals allocated by the SNCB are used, in particular, to pay the wages of workers released for trade union purposes.
