The number of secondary Freelancers has gone up by 10% in 5 years

Between 2010 and 2015, the number of secondary freelancers went up by 10.6%, according to data from the Social Security Freelancers Institute (Inast). They were analysed by the Neutral Union for Freelancers (SNI), 7 reported on Sunday. During this same period, the number of people who freelance for their main job only went up by 4%.

To comment on these figures, the SNI did an inquiry involving 826 secondary freelancers, together with the RH Securex bureau. It found that 40% of them chose to do their second job as they enjoy it, and 25% do it as a hobby. Just 17% do it to earn extra money, and 14% start out this way until they feel confident enough to make it their main job.
