The number of job vacancies in Flanders continues to rise, according to figures published on Wednesday by the Flemish employment service, VDAB. The employment service published 20,338 vacancies in July, a 14.5% increase over July 2017. Over the past 12 months, the VDAB received 274,471 job offers, 11% more than the preceding 12-month period.
“The number of job offers sent to the VDAB has remained at a very high level,” the regional service said.
The sectors requesting the most workers in recent months were textiles-clothes-shoes, machine manufacturing, construction and energy-water-waste transformation. On the other hand, sectors such as Internet technology, media, telecoms, and transport, logistics and postal services seemed to have less need for new recruits.
