Securitas plans to recruit 1,500 people in 2019

Securitas plans to recruit an extra 1,500 people in Belgium during 2019, the security company announced on Saturday. It already has more than 6,000 employees in Belgium.

The company is looking for another 1,200 agents, as well as 100 receptionists and 200 more technical roles.

The company will hold “Securitas on tour” from the 11th of February to the 11th of March. The tour will travel through Belgium and aim to get more young people and future graduates to apply for these new jobs. “The tour will kick off in Ghent on the 11th of February, before going to Charleroi, Liege, Hasselt, Antwerp and Brussels. Our event will be half-way between a job fair and a mini-festival. It will include various workshops and participants will be able to test some of the new techniques and technologies that Securitas uses (drones, fire-truck, X-ray detector...). There will be a show by comedian Bert Kruismans, followed by a concert from a pillar of the Belgian festival scene, Baï Kamara Jr. Our goal is to reach out to as many potential job candidates as possible and show them what Securitas does”, Securitas said in a press release.

“Securitas on tour” is mainly geared towards students in their last year of higher education and new graduates. They can even have job interviews and take tests on site to speed up the recruitment process as much as possible.

The number of people choosing security-based qualifications in Flanders has increased 20% in four years. In total, nearly 1,150 students left higher education with a security-based qualification in 2018. “This professional career path also exists in French-language education, but it started later and is currently only available in around a dozen schools. 1,041 students registered for it during the 2017-2018 school year”, Securitas explained.

Student jobs are also an important talent pool for security companies: 90% of those who had a student job with Securitas in 2017 ended up signing a permanent contract with the company.

Security company G4S announced they were planning to recruit another 1,000 people during 2019 at the end of January. They took on an extra 900 people just last year.
