This Monday and Tuesday the General Directorate of the Judicial Police (PJF) in Mons-Tournai was able to dismantle a criminal organisation actively involved in cocaine and cannabis trafficking. The group was mostly active in the centre of the country (La Louviere, Manage, Seneffe), but had branches in Brussels and Antwerp, according to a police press release on Wednesday.
As many as 19 raids were carried out by Mons PJF, with reinforcements from external units based in Charleroi, Antwerp, and Brussels, and also from local teams in La Louviere, Mariemont and Vilvorde, adds the press release.
A total of 70 policemen were involved in the investigation, with the help of narcotics searchdogs.
Of the 12 people arrested, 6 were charged by the investigating judge in Charleroi.
As well as proceeding with these arrests, investigators found several hundred grams of cocaine and cannabis ready for the market, and a packaging press.
The findings of the investigation on site allowed police to launch a second investigation into money laundering, and to seize 10 vehicles (Porsche, Mercedes), cash, and varied HI-TECH equipment.
The investigation is run by the “narcotics” department of PJF Mons, under an investigating judge, which could lead to new interrogations, concludes the press release.
