The European Police Office Europol has warned of ever closer links between terrorist groups and criminal organizations. These two branches work together more and more on money laundering and trafficking or falsifying passports, says the deputy director of Europol Wilhelmus van Gemert. His warning appeared in a column in the German daily tabloid Bild. This worries Europol, whose director, Robin Wainwright, said as recently as Tuesday that 3,000 to 5,000 Europeans had left for countries like Syria to do Jihad. They could be a threat when they return home.
