The court of assize in Walloon Brabant chose the members of the jury who will judge Claudine Vannimmen and Walter Van Roy, in Nivelles on Wednesday. The 2 are accused of killing Luc Van Roy (born 1958), in Braine-le-Chateau, in the night of April 21st, 2013.  The first defendant was the victims wife and the second was the victim’s son. The jury randomly selected on Wednesday is made up of 7 women and 2 men, and 4 substitute jurors (3 female and 1 male) were also provided. The trial is due to start on Monday, March 23rd. The assize hearing will be presided over by President Michel De Greve. Prosecution will be in the hands of general counsel Yves Moreau.

Claudine Vannimmen, born in 1968, will be represented by attorneys Aline Capiau and Nathalie Evrard. Her son, Walter Van Roy, born in 1993, will be represented by attorneys  Bénédicte Delvigne and Yves Bertrand.

As early as April 23rd, 2013, Walter Van Roy admitted having fired at his father who was sleeping – sleeping tablets had secretly been put in his food – in the living room of the family farm in Braine-le-Château. He said his mother and under-18 brother were in agreement, which Claudine Vannimmen staunchly contested during the investigation.
