A man is in custody after a fire at a restaurant in Herve (Liège province) on Saturday morning. This was confirmed by the Verviers division of the Liège Prosecutor’s office. When the staff at “Hervium”, on the Reine Astrid avenue, lit the pizza oven on Saturday morning, it blew back.
Investigators soon found the chimney had been blocked with aluminium and cloths. This has happened twice before over the last few weeks.
The restaurant, which had a falling out with someone outside the restaurant, has sued this individual for attempted arson.
The magistrate for the Verviers division of the Prosecutor’s office has confirmed that a person is in custody as part of the case. It has not commented further. “A case in in progress”, it said, adding it will release more information on Monday morning.
