Verviers jihadist deaths - inquest opened into autopsy

According to Christian de Valkeneer, Liège Chief Prosecutor, on Wednesday, the Inspection Générale des Services (inspectorate of the police forces) opened an inquest earlier this week to establish what exactly took place last January 16th in the autopsy room where the bodies of the two jihadists killed during the Verviers raid were being held. Christian de Valkeneer added that there was certainly no “partying on and around the bodies”, as asserted by La Dernière Heure in its Wednesday edition. The Chief Prosecutor did, however, acknowledge that there was alcohol on the premises at the time of the incident. The investigation will establish the respective responsibilities of the various parties involved.

The police and judicial authorities steadfastly condemned these acts which infringe upon human dignity. The various authorities have already announced that disciplinary measures will be taken in the event of any breach.
