16 arrests during house searches in Belgium, aimed at catching Chechen jihadists

A total of 21 house searches took place simultaneously on Monday, as part of two investigations into terrorism involving Chechen jihadists, the Federal Prosecutor’s office has said. 16 people were arrested, and the police seized a lot of material. 10 search warrants were issued in Ostend, 5 in Louvain, 2 in Bredene, 2 in Antwerp, and one in Jabbeke. One was also issued in Namur.
