Anti-terrorist action – the Human Rights League wants an independent inquiry

The Human Rights League (HRL) wants an investigating judge to be assigned to a new case they want studied. They want a judicial inquiry into the lethal raid on an apartment in the rue Colline in Verviers, which took on the 15th of January, to be launched by the Liège Prosecutor’s office. They want it to be done in “a completely independent way”, Saturday’s Le Soir reported. This operation “ended with the death of two people who appear to have been planning terrorist attacks against law enforcement”, says the League. They are questioning police’s lethal use of guns.

The HRL says “the operation got general approval due to the terrorist threat. This approval does not cancel out the need to check the police operated legally”.

The Federal Prosecutor’s office, like the federal police, says the rules were followed.
