This Monday at Liège Criminal Court the prosecution requested a 15-year sentence for Alexander Nanot, a 42-year-old Frenchman charged with 2 counts of attempted murder on police officers in Barchon (Liège) on August 8th, 2014. The man had just robbed a bank in Germany when he was spotted in a layby on the Barchon motorway by police who recognised the description. Instead of abandoning his loot and taking flight, Alexander Nanot chose to fire six shots at the police. One of them was shot three times.
The prosecutor highlighted the personality of Alexander Nanot, a man who already had 10 convictions totalling 20 years in prison. His convictions included shooting at the police.
