Two weeks ago police arrested a man who had photos of police officers from the Midi division (Saint-Gilles, Forest, Anderlecht) along with other photos of members of their families, on his mobile phone. According to information published by the daily La Dernière Heure and later confirmed by Midi police, the Midi division chief of police immediately implemented security procedures and alerted Brussels prosecutor’s office. The prosecutor’s office has declined to comment.
La Dernière Heure reports that the man was intercepted on August 14th by police from a different division. It remains unclear why the man was arrested or his mobile phone confiscated. The phone contained photos of non-uniformed police officers with their partners and occasionally their children, allegedly from social media websites.
