Youth shot dead in Anderlecht: murder investigation opened

An investigating magistrate was nominated in the case of the 24-year-old man found dead with a bullet in his head in a field in Anderlecht on Tuesday afternoon, revealed the Brussels prosecutor’s office on Wednesday. No arrests have yet been made.

Emergency services were called in by neighbours who noticed the body in an abandoned vehicle. Medical staff quickly confirmed the death. Police forces cordoned off the area and called in the prosecutor.

The magistrate requested that a forensic lab unit from the federal police join a forensic scientist on site. The victim had allegedly been shot in the head. The prosecutor consequently asked for an expert in ballistics to join the investigation. The prosecutor himself went on site at approximately 8:00 p.m. with an investigating magistrate. The family of the deceased has been notified.
