Brussels: 45% of motorists driving too fast during a check carried out on Thursday

45% of the 2,000 vehicles whose speed was checked at the Léon Monnoyer quay in Brussels on Thursday were going too fast. The highest speed recorded during this check was 109 km/h, in a zone limited to 50km/h. Eleven motorists had their license confiscated immediately, the Brussels Prosecutor’s office said on Friday.

The speed check took place at the Léon Monnoyer quay on Thursday morning. Around 135 fines and sanctions were handed out. None of the motorists checked were under the influence of alcohol.

Four fines were given for having an improperly registered car, not being insured, not wearing a seat-belt and not driving with a guide while holding a provisional 36 month license.
