Fraud at Studio 100: former manager freed conditionally

The Judicial Indictment Court of Antwerp decided Tuesday to conditionally free the former manager of Studio 100, fraud suspect Maarten S., who had been under preventive custody through electronic surveillance. Maarten S., aged 44, and Dirk F., 49, the second suspect in the case, are presumed to have employed a system of false invoices from suspicious companies for several years, having thus diverted considerable sums.

The Judges Council Chamber had sought the suspension of the electronic surveillance two weeks ago, and the Prosecutor’s Office appealed the decision. On Tuesday the Judicial Indictment Court confirmed the decision of the Judges Council.

One of the conditions for freeing Maarten S. is for him not to have contact with the other persons involved in the case; others are prohibition from travelling abroad and working in the financial sector.
