Investigators found among the internet downloads of Aboubaker Diop (46) the wanted notice for Salah Abdseslam. This information was published Thursday by the La Dernière Heure daily and confirmed by the lawyer of Diop, Carine Couquelet.

Press photos of a person known by Aboubaker Diop who died in Syria were also found when analysing ICT material of the man in his forties, including his global system for mobile communications. “It’s really nothing much,” was the opinion of his lawyer. “This does not mean that one participates in acts of terrorism or belongs to a terrorist group. Police have not found any traces of sensitive sites or propaganda,” she insisted.

A list with the names of judges and police was also found in Aboubaker Diop’s apartment, which established a connection with the legal aftermath of a brawl in 2003 at Kinepolis.

Aboubaker Diop is the brother of Hicham Diop (43), who stabbed, in Schaerbeek, two police officers who survived. At his examination, Hicham Diop stated to police that his brother was a fighter, which led to the brother’s interrogation. According to his defence, Aboubaker Diop has been on bad terms with his brother for years and they have broken relations.

Coucellor Couquelet decided, together with her colleague Samira Bouyid, to appeal the decision of the Judges Council Chamber of confirming the extension for one month of the arrest warrant for Aboubaker Diop for participating in terrorist group activities.
