A Belgian jihadist who had threatened Belgium and France on video was sentenced to death by hanging in Iraq on Tuesday for belonging to Islamic State (ISIS), an AFP journalist reported. Tarik Jadaoun, born in 1988, had joined ISIS in 2014 under the assumed name of Abou Hamza al-Belgiki. At the first hearing of his trial at the central criminal court of Baghdad on the 10th of May, he had pleaded “not guilty”, and told the judges that he had “gone astray”.
