The two bare-breasted activists who protested, Sunday, on Brussels’ Grand-Place, against the confinement of migrant children in the Steenokkerzeel’s closed center, risk being prosecuted for an affront to common decency, among other things, indicated the Court Monday. Aged 22 and 23, the two women — who only wore panties and shoes — had burst in on the Grand-Place close to 3 pm carrying a banner saying: “This is not a scandal, but confining children is” while walking through the flower carpet.
Arrested, they were heard by the police, then freed at approximately 5 pm. Judicial proceedings were drawn up and will be transmitted to the Brussels Court.
The young women “could be prosecuted for an affront to common decency, an offense for which they risk from eight days to a year's imprisonment and a 26 to 100 euros fine,” stipulated the court’s spokesperson. “Public order disturbance and compensation might also be considered,’’ she added.
