A man who escaped from Lantin Prison around a year ago was involved in a serious road accident in Ohey at about 6.00 a.m. on Friday, according to the Office of the Public Prosecutor of Namur. He had a head-on collision with a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction on Ciney Road. The driver of the other car was critically injured, and his life is in danger. The fugitive, born in 1990, suffered an open fracture of the leg.
It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the mishap. An expert has been tasked with determining the exact circumstances of the accident.
The escaped prisoner, who is now in hospital, will be sent back to prison as soon as possible. His jail term is expected to be extended.
