Law courts in Brussels, Wallonia to be open to the public on Saturday

Law courts in Brussels and Wallonia will be open to the public on Saturday at the initiative of the Order of French- and German-speaking Bars of Belgium with the support of the Justice Department. Visitors will be offered guided tours and mock trials to help enhance their understanding of the way the judiciary functions. In some cases, they will also be able to receive legal advice.

The law courts that will be open to the public on Saturday are those of Brussels, Nivelles, Liège, Charleroi, Dinant, Eupen, Mons, Namur, Tournai and Verviers. All will provide guided tours and mock trials, while some will provide visitors with additional opportunities.

In Brussels, lawyers will be on hand to answer visitors’ questions and, for the first time, there will be 15-minute lectures followed by question-and-answer sessions in the morning and in the afternoon on the new rules on leases in Brussels and the general regulation on data protection.

In Charleroi, visitors will be able to seek free, individualised advice in all areas from members of the bar.

In Dinant, a legal aid stand will be set up.

And in Mons, reportages will be projected on screen, mainly on the issue of video-surveillance.

All information and the programme are available on the avocats.be website.
